Anyone else have eczema more now? What did you do?

I have had eczema all of my life thank you  to my grandmother but it really hasn't been that bad just a lil around my nose and in my eye brows hardly noticeable. But now it has gotten out of control. Its in my scalp and T-gel nor Other great dandruff shampoos are helping. My forehead looks almost scaly. I put make up on it when im out to help hide it that just irritating it. My husband is military and we just moved to this base and i do not have a primary Care Manager. Just mt OB/GYN. Im gonna go for an appointment monday and try to get a referal or some medication. But any one else have this issue. Any natural remedies i can use till then? Or any suggestion of what to ask to get a script for if i can even have one? Thanks

  • Do you eat dairy? Pre-preg, I had it awful when I would eat dairy. When I'm pregnant, I'm unaffected. But maybe this is the case for you pregnant or not? Stop all milk, cheese, ice cream, pizza, anything w/ dairy. No yogurt... Nothing of the sort. When I cut those things out, I am eczema free.

  • I've struggled with eczema all my life, but it's actually been better since my pregnancy.

Usually I avoid big temperature changes and getting the affected area wet too often (not easy since the only place I get it is on my hands).  I also try to keep the pores sealed by using a thick moisturizing cream as often as I can.

  • mine is definitely acting up - my face is sooo dry and itchy.    Sometimes the Aveno oatmeal products work for me - but right now not so much...
  • You don't need a referral to see your PCM. Just call the appointment line for your MTF/post, and set up the appointment. If they cannot look up who your PCM is through the appointment line (which they should be able to look it up in PAS or CHCS), you can call DEERS and ask which clinic you are assigned to, and then call that clinic direct. An OB is not going to be able to consult you to derm without first sending you to your PCM.

  • I have severe eczema, sometimes is covers up to half of my skin, head to toe.  I use cold pressed, extra virgin olive oil and it is the only thing that has helped......cleared it up completely until I got pregnant.  There is also a 'Baby Eczema Cream' sold at drugstores in the baby isle, it has Winnie the Pooh characters on it and it's in a green, pink, and cream colored box.  I'm using a combination of these things.  I also only use a soap called 'Basis' its an inexpensive soap also sold at drugstores.  Hope you can find some relief!

I'm using the Baby Eczema cream, too to some success.  My pcp also recommended Shea Butter hand cream by Burt's Bees...it's super-emollient and is definitely helping the breakout on my hands.
