Names- From A Northeast Teacher perspective

Since many of our teachers in other parts of the country have done this for us I thought I would throw in the trend in names I saw on my class roster today. For perspective I teach 10th & 12th grade in Western NY.

Repeated Boy Names: I have a lot of classic boy names like Christopher, Michael, Matthew & Steven but I have several named Brandon & Andrew.

Unique boy names: I have been teaching 9 years now & I have never encountered but now have Gage, Dallas, Marshall, Abisai, & Ashton.

Repeated girl names: Alexis/Alexandria/Alexandra/Alessandra; Katherine/Kathryn, Meghan/Megan, Rachel, Samantha, Alyssa, Rebecca, Taylor, & Chelsea.

Unique girl names: Joelle, Kinsey, Tierra, & Lacey

Happy Naming!!

Re: Names- From A Northeast Teacher perspective

  • I LOVE unique names!  wehave our  name but if not I would like any of those as well.  They are unique but not weird or to the point of making fun of.

  • All of your common ones are common here to (GA). Dallas and Gage are common here.

    Tierra is common here too.

  • I have a boy named Gage this year as well, although I've had one pretty much every year for the past 3 years.  I also have a girl named Dallys this year, which is a new one.
