I was reading my Septemenber Parenting magazine when I saw an ad for Boppy. It said something about the second child deserving their own boppy and not a hand-me-down.
I was so pissed about the ad, because I felt like it was making me feel guilty for using the same stuff from our first child.
Re: am I overly sensitive?
yea, I think you're being a tad over-sensitive.
Boppy probably sponsors the magazine, so they're obviously going to encourage everyone buying them.
Yes. They are in this business to make money. If everyone uses the same one from their first child, well it's not very good business for them so they try to convince everyone they need to buy a new one.
It seems they have accomplished their goal with you by making you feel guilty and wanting to buy a new one.
I will be using the same one and no I don't feel guilty about it.
I barely used my boppy first time around - I'll def. not be getting a new one.

What a silly ad! As if your baby is going to know whether his/her boppy is used anyway!
Besides, I have six siblings. I've had hand-me-downs all my life and I turned out just fine.
Don't feel guilty! That was the whole purpose of the ad.
It's an emotional appeal--a marketing strategy. These people go school for years and are really good at their jobs, don't feel bad.
Yeah that's ridiculous...just chalk it up to pregnancy hormones! I have everything saved from DS and I'm planning on spending only what's necessary for #2. Even if it's a girl, I'm going through DS's clothes and saving little things like onesies and pajamas and gender neutral stuff.
Call me a bad mother, but I'd rather spend the $$ on other things like books or mommy and me classes...things a baby/toddler would benefit more from than a stupid pillow!
