Legal Stuff - Don't want to think about it, but...

I'm filling out the hospital pre-registration forms and it is asking about advanced directives.  Have any of created or considered a formal power of attorney or a living will?

 I'm have power of attorney for both of my parents (both have had recent health issues that required extended hospital stays), but the hospital basically had forms that they filled out and had notarized.

I know that I could google it, but any personal experiences putting the documentation together would be appreciated.  I know that it is hard to think about during this happy and exciting time, but I can help thinking that it is the responsible thing to do.

Unfortunately this isn't the area of law that I practice, but I find that findlaw.com is a great resource.  You can search for the appropriate forms by state I think.  I know each state is very different, particularly with how many witnesses need to sign, what needs to be notarized, etc.

I'm a little slow regarding legal stuff - is this basically where you say what you want to have happen to you if you are incapacitated/can't make your own medical decisions?

I will prob just designate DH to handle everything. I don't have any assets really so I am not concerned about that.

I need to make both a will and living well as well. I mean, he knows what I want in basics, but when I speak to him about specifics (DNR's and when to establish, how long to keep me on life support while comatose, etc) he refuses to listen because it makes him upset. So, he'll be no help if/when *** hits the fan.
