what to use right after delivery

I'm planning to breastfeed/pump and have heard it's easiest to have some type of sleeping unit (crib, moses basket, etc) at the side of the bed since there will be so many middle of the night feedings.  We have a high bed that stands probably 3 ft off the floor so the moses basket seems like I'd still have to roll out of bed.  Anyone have a high bed in your room?  If so, what baby bed are you using those first few weeks?

  • co sleeper mini with the additions to make it taller to reach my bed.

  • My bed is WAY high.  I'm 6' and I have to hop up a little to get my butt onto it.  We are going to sidecar our crib so we actually have to make a stand for the crib to raise it up.  I'm sure this isn't what many people would choose and I may get "in trouble" with them but this is what we decided to do.
  • We had a wooden cradle that was on the wall across the end of our bed. This time we will use a normal pack in play for a week or two until I feel better from my c-section then he will go right in his bedroom in the crib.
  • We're using the co-sleeper with raisers if needed.

  • I am in the same situation.  My sister did the Moses basket and really liked it because she also used the basket when the baby was young and she could carry it around the house with her.  I plan on doing that because I think a "bed/basinet" in my my bedroom is to permanent/expensive.
  • we have a super high bed too, and we're using a wooden cradle.  it's not that much lower than our mattress, and we're putting it right at the end of the bed, so both my husband and i can reach the baby.  after a few months, we'll move her into her own room with the crib!

  • We have registered for this https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3739296 We would have just used a pack n play but there isn't enough room in our bedroom.

  • a moses basket is out for us b/c our dog would be all over the baby if the baby were in the basket on the floor. instead we're using a pack n play but it won't be in our bedroom, the baby will be in his own room right from the very beginning. newborn's breathing tends to be a little funky so if the baby were right there with us i think i'd always be freaking out that something is wrong with him, plus, my husband will be working on his thesis for his phd so the last thing he needs is a screaming baby in the same room as him.

if you're planning on keeping the baby in the room with you, i would think a co-sleeper or pnp would be handy.

  • You can do the co-mini-sleeper... It stands tall and it is nice to have.
