While I was on my cruise, since I had just found out that the baby was a boy and decided for sure that his name was Aidan, I got myself a necklace to wear him close to my heart. It's a small silver heart with AIDAN engraved on it by some dude selling stuff off a cart in Cozumel. Whatever, it's pretty, I like it, and I wear it.
Today during a meeting, my boss leaned in super close and said "what does that say?" I told her it was the baby's name, and she said "oh. well what is it?" I said it was Aidan, and she said "oh. well... i mean... you have plenty of time to figure it out. you don't need to choose a name this early."
a) shut up. there's nothing wrong with his name, which I have clearly already chosen, tyvm
b) stop trying to make me feel like everything I do is "too early" (she's already told me she thinks it's ridiculous that I got pregnant a month after the wedding, it's ridiculous that we have a stroller already, and now it's "too early" to be picking his name)
I could care less if she likes the name, but I'm an angry emotional mess today. So I went back to my desk for a cry.
Re: my boss made me cry for no good reason...
Sigh. I try . She and I have a terrible relationship and she thrives on knowing everyone's personal business. Ultimately, I end up feeling like I have to tell her things when she asks, because she's my boss and makes my life miserable when I try to keep her at arm's length.

sorry but F that, is she dumb? seriously you need to be prepared as much and as early as you can so when you have absolutely no energy and he's ready to come out you can actually relax before not sleeping for 18 years lol. Whatever, that just made me mad especially since we're naming our boy Aiden too (obv spelled different but still love this name no matter how popular it may be)
p.s. we also have the same due date! sweet :]
Also, I think Aidan is a great name. And if it makes you feel any better, I just told my sister that I could name my baby Lucifer if I wanted to. Luci for short of course
edit:spelling
What a b*tch! Are you supposed wait until your 38 weeks pregnant and waddle around babies r us buying everything you need? Does she live under a rock? Aiden is a really popular name right now and there is nothing wrong with it.
Sorry you had such a lovely vacation and have to come back to this...
Btw, how was your cruise?
ewww, people can be so rude. i love the name you chose. DH and i picked a name and use it with each other when talking to the baby. would this lady think that's weird, too? we haven't told anyone else yet though b/c i'm tired of being hounded and will tell when i'm ready.
and of course it's not too early to buy things...i've been picking things up here and there when i find deals. i think it's silly to wait until the end when i know i'll be too huge to shop. ugh. people.

Do you work for my old boss? Because I can just imagine this conversation taking place between me and her. One of many reasons I don't work there anymore.
I got married in the fall while I worked at USC. Fall is football season. Nobody in my family cares about football enough for this to be an issue in wedding planning. I planned my wedding based on the availability of the venue I loved. It happened to be the same day as an AWAY game with Cal. My boss told me that I was being insensitive to my guests feelings making them choose between a football game and my wedding.
I told her if people would rather watch a football game on TV (or go to it in person), then they were free to do so. But if they decided being at my wedding was more important than one football game, then I'd be happy to have them there. There would be no hard feelings.
She brought up the fact that I had the audacity to schedule my wedding for the same day as a game for the next year. Every single time she did, she made me wish I had rescinded her invitation.
Thanks ladies. I'm fairly sure she just sits around thinking up ways to be nasty to me. not that my being cranky about everything helps.
ETA: thought this was funny. The other day she made a comment about how she thinks she still looks about 6 mos pregnant (her youngest is 3 1/2). Then she paused, and I was apparently supposed to disagree. There was a long awkward silence until I finally just turned around and left her office.

Ha! Good. Hope she knows what it feels like to feel like ***. Sorry she was so mean to you hon; she more than likely is unhappy with her own life and has to make everyone else miserable. Do yourself a favor and don't invite her to anything- the baby shower, nothing.
My husband and I had names picked out since we started trying.
For a boy, we already knew because it is a tradition in his family for the first name to be John with a different middle name.
