Trying to narrow down a pediatrician, and had a few questions for the experts:
1 - How important is it for the doctor to visit the baby in the hospital? One of the practices we are considering doesn't do hospital visits.
2 - So FL Pediatrics - I believe they have several offices; I'm considering the one in Kendall (off of 87 Ave). Thoughts? Experiences?
THANKS!
Re: Opinions Needed RE: Pediatricians
This! Dr. L didn't come to hospital...not a big deal to us. Neonatologists were around 24 hrs a day at our hospital and they specialize in this stage of a baby's life, so we were very content with their service. .

Ditto Mel as well.
The hospital with give you discharge paperwork for the babies with all the important info that your pedi will need for the first appointment.
A pediatrician coming to the hospital is very important. As the last person posted, the hospital will provide you with however is on call and depending on your insurance, those pediatricians are barely ever on your health insurance.
I recommend going with Pediatric Professionals off of Sunset and 87th Ave. They are fantastic! They have 9 doctors, they are always on call, have Saturday visits and Sunday emergency hours. It is definitely nice to not have to go to urgent care on a Sunday with your baby. You can actually see a doctor. AND - one of them WILL be there the day of delivery.
I was a patient when I was a baby and so I know from experience they are awesome! Now being a mom - I know the other side of it too. Good LUCK!
PS - Their phone number is (305) 271-8222
