So I love both my MIL and my mom, but I had to take a calming breath after this particular comment this weekend.
We just bought a home and we were talking about how I think we need to repaint this one wall. It is a little more red than a fuschia. I told my husband that there was no way our current couch (red with cream accents) would match it. Well in pops my MIL saying that it would totally match and that "I'm not crazy, I'm not pregnant." My mom proceeds to laugh and agree with her that she was thinking the same comment.
Apparently they both have totally forgotten how it feels to be pregnant and it is open season on making comments about my sanity, my belly size and how much I choose to eat. Which really have not changed at all!
Like I said, LOVE THEM, but what are they thinking? Hope everyone is having a great Labor Day weekend!
Re: "I'm not crazy, I'm not pregnant."
I keep saying don't mess with me I'm not in control of my emotions. I'm pregnant so just do what I'm telling you to do. even if it makes no sense to you it will make the crazy pregnant lady happy.
You could make them a bet... if the wall doesn't match they have to buy the paint and paint it.
Honestly a red wall wouldn't match a red couch... (unless maybe you took the swatch in to have the paint mixed, and even then why would you?)
Just because I am crazy and pregnant doesn't mean you get to use that in an argument. You still have to have valid points for your position.
Still sometimes when they are being silly/ unreasonable/ irrational it is easier to take a step back than to rock the boat.
I like the bet idea! I just feel like in this case I was saying something totally rational and it turns into a pregnant thing. Like the totally infuriating irrational pre=pregnant PMS comments that drive everyone crazy!
You're right about taking a step back. I didn't say anything to them and just vented to the DH. It's just something to get used to I guess!
My DH and I don't even understand the conversation. What does being pregnant have to do with your ability to mentally match colors? I know I didn't suddenly become color blind and I'm assuming no one else did either. How random. I'd be pissed off too and I probably wouldn't have bit my tongue since that statement made no sense in that context.
Either way, good luck on the wall. If I were you, I'd paint it. Red couch + red wall = totally not my style
