So my husband and I couldn't wait to tell everyone. So we made the trip up to our hometown to tell our parents. We first went to my mom's place and handed her scrapbook stickers of bibs and everything that relates to babies in blue and pink. She looked at them and then looked at me. She looked at me...wondering if she should ask. Finally, I said, "Is there something you would like to ask?" She started bawling her eyes out and hugging me. I am her only biological daughter so this is a huge thing.
Next came his parents which we announced it to his mom first same thing. She couldn't believe her eyes. I am now one of three daughter-in-laws that are pregnant right now for her. She of course couldn't wait to tell everyone else. Then we made the calls to all six siblings of my DH. Who were all excited. We told one who just announced they were pregnant awhile back joking that we were not trying to steal their thunder.
Then we called the godparents that we selected. My husband chose his best man and his best guy friend who was surpised that we selected him. Then I called my best friend who knew I was pregnant she was the first one to know. But didn't know she's the godmother and she surpised me. She went insanely talkitive after I told her trying to figure a way to come to the birth. She lives in another state for school and is graduating around the time I am due. But she surpised me. She's one of those weird people who have dreams about actual future thing. She dreamed about when got married and I did exactly the time she said. She kept calling the baby a girl...it will be interesting to see if she is correct.
How have you told your family?
Re: Told the Family and Friends
Oh so cute! Your mom's reaction, so sweet! Funny actually, we had to tell my DH's brother and SIL early on because they had just announced. We, too, didn't want to steal their baby thunder.
We plan on telling parents on Grandparents day, which is Sunday, 9/12. Got the cutest cards for "Grandma and Grandpa." We're so excited!
Congratulations to you!

Aww Cograts on tellign everyone! DH and I are waiting until wednesday after the sonogram to tell family. I got all the ideas put in place though. For my mom we are going over there for dinner and telling her we got this really great tomato sauce in a jar and she has to try it, lol its going to be Prego sauce. we are gonna put a baby hat on it with a sono pic on the side on the can.
With DH's mom and step dad we are going to tell them we got aq great granpparents book for them, because they already have several grandchildren. We bought a grandparenting book its got activities, recipees, poems, rymes, games etc... and we are gonna put a picture of the sonogram in there.
For my dad and step mom, My dad is a doctor and step mom is a RN so I am going to tell him before dinner that I have a strange rash on my stomach and that he needs to look at it, maybe he can prescribe me something or it. Whe I lift my shirt up I am going to have with washable markers Hi Grandpa I can't wait to meet you April 2011, love baby! lol
With DH's dad he isn't that close with his father so I think we are going to call him and tell him that way.
I cant wait to do this!!!!!!
I didn't mention telling my two older sisters. One sister earlier this week was saying that she wasn't taking her cell phone with her camping so we knew we won't be able to get ahold of her on Saturday. Since, she is good at keeping a secret we decided to just tell her on Thursday night. She and her husband agreed to stop after two kids. My BIL got the surgry. So...my sister spoils my new niece because she loves babies. when I told her she went insane and was looking forward to being able to spoil this one.
My other sister was really hard to get ahold of. I have nine nieces and nephews on my side of the family. Most of my nieces and nephews have a cousin a year younger then them and they are best friends. It's really cute and sweet except one niece. Since my sister got married they decided to try for their first baby together and had their daughter last March. She been commenting on how my niece won't get to have a cousin that will be her best friend. so when I called her I said, 'You wanted abbi to have a cousin around her age right?"
"Yeah..." my sister replied.
"Is a little over a year difference close enough." That's when she screamed it was funny. Of course my nieces and nephews had no idea why their mom was screaming it was worth it.
Since there is three of us daughter-in-laws for my mother-in-law that is pregnant. I was talking to the one who is due in November and she made the comment that she must got morning sickness for me and for my other sister-in-law because either of us have had it.
