How did you tell your family about your pregnancy???

Ladies,

We will be visiting DH's family next weekend.  We are considering sharing our news since we will be there in person.  We won't be there again until Christmas time.  I always thought we would be telling our parents in a cool special way but with all this IVF business they were involved and supporting us all the way.  So, they found out after we got our first beta on the phone.  I wanted to try to have that cool moment in which you share this news with our grandparents, the soon-to-be great grandparents.  I'm considering buying each couple a Christmas ornament (2 peas in a pod) that will say Expecting our Sweat Peas in 2011.  I have also considered getting a picture frame with a message that it will be for their first great grandchildren's photo.  So, I'm wondering how did you tell?

We just told them it finally worked. I've never seen the need for a cutesy way of telling people that you're pregnant. But that's just me.

I had wanted to tell them in a cutsey way, but after 3 1/2 years of trying, any way was special.  I didn't tell them with the first beta - we wanted to wait until Easter and tell them then (around 11 weeks), but when I found out they were twins, I told them that day.  The only thing I did do is make sure I told them in person.  My parents were thrilled!

Well, since our families didn't know we were undergoing treatment, we bought picture frames that said "I love my grandma" and "I love my grandpa" and put an image inside that I designed that had a stork & said "arriving in January"

They were all thrilled, and loved the way we shared the news.

Way back when we first started TTC, I got a picture frame that said " I love my grandparents. I have always planned on giving that to my mom & dad. Now that I know we are having twins, I got two onesies from Target that say " I love Grandpa". 

We are going to give my mom the frame and then after the initial squeal and cry, we will give my dad the onesies.

Our parents knew about our IVF so they were aware of when Beta day was. Unfortunately I had to tell my mom over the phone since she lives in another state and DH told his mom over the phone because she was at work (and I know her coworkers so they all knew what was going on too...I was told there was a lot of jumping and screaming going on when he called lol), but I was really lucky that I got to tell my dad in person. He was in town for a job interview and so DH and I drove to meet him for dinner. I couldn't think of a way to tell him without just blurting it out. When DH and I ordered dessert dad was in the bathroom so we ordered a kids dessert for him as a joke, but we used it as our way of telling him. The waitress put his down and after she left I said "well we figured we start getting you used this for when you take your grandchild out to eat" and he said with a big smile "so I take it you got some good news today?" It was so great to get to tell him that way. DH also told his dad in person but they aren't the type to be cutesy together.

we didn't do anything fun or cute....they were pretty involved with all the knowledge about our ivf and we kept them up to date with pretty much everything, so as soon as we got our first beta they knew

We bought "Grandchildren" picture frames and put pics of our embies in there as well as our u/s pics and a lily pie ticker that said how far along I was.  Nobody knew we were doing our FET so it was a huge shock, not only that I was pregnant but that we were having triplets!
