I ended up at labor and delivery last night for an exam after I experienced bleeding. They did a transvaginal ultrasound and saw the gestational sac but the OB said I am measuring "4 or 5 weeks, more like 5."
I am confused because if I go by when I ovulated and count forward I am almost five weeks pregnant. The tickers I used by ovulation date all say I am almost 7 weeks? So I am guessing the tickers are also using the 2 weeks prior to conception in that calculation, is that right? Is it normal not to see a fetus at 5 weeks?
Re: Hospital visit last night with bleeding help me please?
From what I can see, the bump tickers calculate based on LMP (last menstrual period) or due date, not ovulation. So, if you've been plugging your ovulation date into where it says "last menstrual period," that's why your ticker would be two weeks ahead of where you think it should be.
Did you chart? If you charted and know when you ovulated, you could use a pregnancy calculator to find out your due date and then have the ticker created based on that.
If you are under five weeks, then yes, it would be normal not to see the fetus yet.
Hope that helps.

It is possible to not see anything other than a sac at 5 weeks. This is why my OB office doesn't due u/s before 7 weeks because it gets moms upset.
To figure out your due date, I think if you know your ovulation date (by charting) you'd add two weeks.
I hope everything is OK for you!
