Babies: 9 - 12 Months

if you have endometriosis

Before conceiving DD, I had surgery for PCOS and endometriosis in which my left ovary and tube were removed because the were so damaged. Prior to the surgery, I had problems with pain in that area, where the ovary was. After the surgery, it felt much better for a while. Lately I've had pain there again, and it's not like RLP from being pg, and I didn't have it all while pg with L.

I asked my OB about it, and she said it is possible for endo to build up on other things besides female organs, and that they'll check the area out when I'm having my c/s for #2.

I'm wondering if you had endo removed, did you have trouble with it again? If so, was it so soon? It's been one year and ten months since my ovary was removed, and it seems soon to me to have the same kind of pain.

Re: if you have endometriosis

  • ah man I'm sorry to hear that.  I had endo, surgery was 9 years ago.  Anytime I had any type of pain my dr was on top of it doing a ultrasound to see if anything new was growing in there. I would get it checked out sooner than later because it can keep growing and give you problems at concieving again.  Being on the pill kept mine from growing and coming back.  When I did go off the pill it took about 6 months to conceive and in that time I started getting cysts all over.  My only advice is if your dr isn't too concerned and willing to help you find a new dr.  It took me having years and years of pain before I found a dr that took me serious and realized something was wrong.  Good luck

  • My OB was at my surgery when they took my ovary out, and she delivered L and they removed more endo from inside my uterus during the c/s, so she knows the history. They did check on my last u/s for #2 and didn't see anything suspicious, but she'll definitely look while they're in there for the c/s with #2. (Only 11 weeks away!)

I couldn't conceive for years, my XH and I tried and had a few m/c but that was it. The surgery I had started out laparascopic, to remove a humongous cyst on the ovary, but they saw it was too damaged and took the whole thing out. Then got a BFP which was DD during my first post-operative cycle. DH and I were only dating then and not even TTC, but it turned out to be so wonderful for us! That's a big part of why we went for 2u2, in case I would have trouble TTC again if we waited too long.

  • Hey!  I am sorry!  I have endo and PCOS.  I had my first surgery....then later that same year the endo grew back and I had to have surgery again (it was just too painful and the different meds we were trying didnt help.)  I just had surgery again two weeks ago bc my endo grew back, had a huge cyst that was leaking blood, and I had other smaller cysts (PCOS.)  Sorry to say that they can grow back.  :(  GL though!

  • I had my endo surgery at 16 and spent the next 10 years on BC. When we decided to TTC, I was off BC for 2 months prior and immediately started having more pain. It had started a year before but got much worse without the BC. OB wanted to put me on lupron but we decided to TTC sooner than planned instead. I have not had much pain since having DD. They say pregnancy has the same effect as Lupron. But I know it varies quite a bit from one person to the next. Sorry to hear that you are having troubles.
