explain nursing pads and bras

First of all I have not been able to find a nursing bra I like. I was measured at Motherhood and they told me I was a 36DD (however she only did one measurement so I don't know how she got that). Well good luck finding any bra that size and when I do, the material under the armpit bunches up so I was told to get 34DD (again good luck). I was buying molded cups but I have to roll the cups inward to get them out of the way to nurse (is that what I'm supposed to do). And I have to use two hands to snap them back together. I'm thinking about buying no molded cups (similar to nursing tanks).

And when it comes to the nursing pads, they move around (even the ones that have the sticky backing). I just want to wear my tanks all the time but I get hot when I put a shirt over them to go out. Help! TIA!

Re: explain nursing pads and bras

  • I would try somewhere like A Nurturing Moment for a good nursing bra.  They have a good selection and a lactation consultant there who can help you.  I got fitted for one at the lactation consultant office for Hsv Hospital before Caleb was born and they were really knowledgeable too.

As for the pads, I have no idea because I never needed them.  Sorry!

  • Ditto Monica's comment about A Nurturing Moment!  They will fit you for the size you are now.  Motherhood bras are horrible!
  • ANM is great.  Try to go when Glenni is there - she's the owner and a LC.

I always liked Bravado Body Silk bras - they didn't have molded cups - more like sports bras - but didn't give you the uniboob like sports bras do.

The pads - I always liked the lansinoh ones and I never had a lot of slippage.

    Good luck!!!

  • I never used nursing bras - my regular bras worked just fine.  I have been breastfeeding for 9 months!

I DID wear mine all the time!  Really.  It will start cooling off soon, so maybe you can make it!

  • I agree with going to a nuturing moment. They are great. I like the nummies bras from there. I also agree with sarah about the lansinoh pads. They are fabulous and even if they do slip they are large enough that they usually still cover you. Once the weather cools off they tanks are great. I wear mine all the time still.
