Yay...progress...now that Libby is more mobile I want her to nap in her crib since I am afraid she might roll or crawl off our bed (where we usually nap her, surrounded by pillows).
She fought me this morning and then J went in a 5 minutes later she was out. This afternoon we went to the park and she fell asleep in her carseat. I took her out and laid her in her crib, she fussed for a second then rolled over a fell back to sleep. Hurray!
Once she gets used to napping in her crib I plan to try starting her out in it each night and then bring her into our bed if/when she wakes up. She still nurses once at night, usually around 3 a.m. but I think she may drop it if she's not next to me, KWIM?
Re: AW: Two naps in her crib today
This was the beginning of the end of the co-sleeping for us. I started putting Bella down to nap in her crib and then brought her in at night if she woke up (which she DID for SO long!) and eventually that dropped too. I'm excited for you though. For me, I loved having her in my bed but I really felt more comfortable with her in her crib because I knew she was more mobile and safest there.
Good luck! Sounds like you guys are making great progress towards all naps in the crib already.
Thanks Sarah...I remember you transitioning Bella to her crib with a mattress on the floor, etc. I suggested that to J today and he wasn't thrilled with the idea. So we'll start with naps in the crib...
I never intended to have a family bed...our plan was to the use the ARCS and then transition her to her crib around 6 months. Well, then reality set in. We took the ARCS down went we went OOT and never put it up since in all honesty it was acting as a bed rail and catch all for toys and blankets. So she's been in the middle of us since our vacay...and more mobile...and time to sleep in her crib. We do have 10 days in Seattle next month and the plan is to bedshare...but now I am thinking of getting a PNP or bringing the ARCS and using it as a PNP while we're there. It all depends on how routine we can get this crib thing...

Our transition was a crazy one. We tried EVERYTHING not to have her CIO. The mattress thing... ah what an experience! I can't believe I even actually tried it but I was at my wits end so I did anything and everything people suggested, the mattress thing was one of them. I NEVER planned on co-sleeping either but it just turned into that out of sheer exhaustion and then how many months later, she was still there. Not only was she still there but she fell of the bed one night and that was the end of it for me, it made me a nervous wreck! Before that she was kicking both of us and hitting us and flailing all over the place which made our sleep not good...
My suggestion (for what it's worth) is to take the PNP and have her nap in that. That way she's not used to sleeping alone, then you go back to bedsharing, then you want her to sleep alone when you get back... I think that's tough for them. Whenever we go to Ryan's family cottage we take the PNP. We're all in the same room, which isn't ideal because when she wakes up she sees us and wants us, but we leave her in the PNP for naps and night time sleeping. That way she doesn't get used to cuddling at night with us. We do make sure to give her PLENTY of cuddles during the day though! I've been giving her foot massages and she LOVES them, just my little way to keep bonded since our BF is coming to an end...
Like I said, good luck with everything, it's bittersweet but so fun to see how they sleep alone. Bella loves cuddling with a little pig that she got, a stuffed bunny, her glowworm and a blanket... I said I'd never leave toys in the crib and now she has a crib full! But at any point in the night when I go in to check on her, she's cuddling with one of her little animals and her blanket. It melts my heart, she's so big already!

Are you visiting friends/family? Maybe someone has one that you can borrow while your there? When I go to KC, I borrow a friends PNP and then it's one less thing I have to pack. She also gives me fresh clean sheets for it too What nice friends I have, it helps that all of our kids are close in age so when she comes here, she doesn't have to bring hers either.
