XP: Food allergy moms!

Ava starts school on the 13th. Thanks to Kap we found a great school and they have experience in dealing with food allergies. I feel very comfortable in the knowledge they have :)

They asked me to write up an action plan for Ava (if (which we won'!) they need to administer Benadryl or her epi-pen) Did anyone else have to do this? If so and you have it on your computer can you email or show it to me?

Thank you!

Re: XP: Food allergy moms!

  • Allergy Action Plans are normally completed by the doctor.  It details what the child is allergic to and what to do if they react.  Our plan detailed what to do if the child ingests and allergen but doesn't react (nothing), develops hives (Benadryl), has swelling of the face or difficulty breathing (epi-pen), etc.

I'm confused as to what kind of allergy your LO has that requires caregivers to have experience with food allergies but does not involve the possibility of using medications.  Is it a true allergy or an intolerance?

  • No she requires meds when she has a reaction, I was just being positive saying that it wasn't going to happen :)

I will call her allergist on Tuesday and ask them if they can create one for her. Thanks.

  • ditto pp--DS's doctor completed the action plan for administering benadryl and/or the epipen jr. he was very familiar with what needed to be completed.
