BG 3.0 Velcro issues

I am having issues with my BG 3.0 velcro. The band that goes across the front of the diaper is unraveling and coming loose from the diaper. I have already returned 4 (we have only used them for 4 months) and they gave me new 3.0. Now I have about 5 more that are starting.

Has anyone else had this? Also my velcro tabs are already curling.

When I went in the store the girls sad they had some issues with the velcro on the 3.0's and it was improved on the 4.0. I want to exchange my others but really don't want more 3.0's if this is going to keep happening.

I have some flips but don't love the snaps for night time changes so I don't know that I want to go to all snaps. DH is not the best at getting the snaps on right in the daylight, I can't imagine in the dark!

Re: BG 3.0 Velcro issues

  • My oldest BG 3.0 has been in fairly regular rotation for 2 years now. The front velcro strip is pretty pilly and the tabs are curling, but it still works fine. I have five other BG 3.0's and three velcro organic AIOs that have seen varying amounts of use -- again, lots of curling tabs and some pilly front velcro, but no major problems.

The band unraveling from the diaper does NOT sound right at all. What is your wash routine? One thing I do is line-dry the pockets almost exclusively, since they line-dry really quickly and that saves wear and tear on the velcro.

I do have two 4.0's and the velcro feels completely different. But if your issue is that the front strip is coming off the diaper, I don't think the different velcro will make much of a difference.

  • The aplix on some of my 3.0s started literally shredding off the front of the diaper about four months after I got them.  They were seconds so I couldn't return them.  I fianlly just got myself some snap pliers and snaps from kamsnaps.com and converted them all myself.  It was TOTALLY worth the time and money.  Putting them on does take some getting used to, and DH definitely was not great at snapping them in the beginning.  But once I explained to him that he should memorize the snap settings, it got a lot better.  For example, right now we snap on the third snap in from the side on both sides (I put two rows of 10 snaps each on the diapers).  He remembers that, and the diapers go on right every time.

I am religious about washing exactly the way that they told us at Cottonbabies. I only line dry the covers.

It is the selvage around the velcro that unravels and then as it does it reaches the stitches and then comes loose.
