Stuffed nose?

I'm mostly a lurker on this board, but first time poster.

 I started getting a cold on Monday with the whole scratchy throat and stuffed nose.  My stuffed nose is out of control and I can't breathe and I know it's going to lead to a major cough by next week.  NOrmally I go to the dr. and get a Zpac with some codine to knock this stuff out and now I more than likely can't do that

My quesiton is, what do you do to relieve your cold symptoms with a majorly stuffy nose?  I know I can take Sudafed, but I have Sudafed PE and not sure if that's the right Sudafed to take.

Sudafed is a cat C drug. I would not take that now especially in the first trimester. Try a saline nasal spray. My nose is just stuffy and it sucks!

Yikes!  On my doctors list it says Sudafed is ok to take.  Hmmmm, might have to double check that list.  I have some Ocean saline spray, maybe I will try that for a bit before I go to bed.  I'm already so tired and being sick is making it even worse.  I can't sleep through the night at all.

Yikes!  On my doctors list it says Sudafed is ok to take.  Hmmmm, might have to double check that list.  I have some Ocean saline spray, maybe I will try that for a bit before I go to bed.  I'm already so tired and being sick is making it even worse.  I can't sleep through the night at all.

It is used in pregnancy even though its a cat C. But not advised in the first trimester. At least thats what I have read. I hope you feel better soon.

My OB sent me to the regular doctor for my sore throat earlier this week, because it was bad enough she was concerned it might be strep. Ended up being a sinus infection, so I'm on antibiotics but am having to tough it out with the nasal congestion. The best thing I've used so far is my neti pot!

I don't want to risk it anyway.    I would rather tough it out than feel anxious while I'm taking Sudafed.  I will try to find some natural remedies that can hopefully work.

That's what I'm afraid it will turn into. I'm so prone to sinus infections, it sucks.  I just bought the sinus rinse today, maybe I will give it a try. Thanks for the suggestion!
