Re: Pregnant (& TTC) After Preemie Check-in!

  • Well, we're officially on a forced break. When I went in for my CD3 ultrasound last Friday, the RE found tons and tons of cysts. Seriously, if the classic PC ovary looks like a "string of pearls", my ovaries look like Swiss cheese. It's insane. So I'm going to give a call when I get back from vacation with DD in mid-Oct and I'll do a round of Provera to induce my period. Hopefully after that wait, there won't be any big cysts left and we can move forward with TTC. We're getting dangerously close to missing out on 2u2, and I'm bummed. Obviously I'll be happy whenever it works out, but it's just another thing IF is taking from me.
  • i'm sorry skypek. i was really looking forward to 2u2 as well, and it sucks when IF gets in the way. stupid PCOS. hopefully your next u/s will look great and you'll be on your way again! i definitely recommend the femara. i've heard great things from other people and obviously i had a good experience! 1 great looking follicle instead of 3-4 ok ones.

i'm doing well. we told our families and everyone is excited. my betas are increasing beautifully. i have my first u/s scheduled for sept 16 and my first ob appt on sept 24th! let the games begin....

I'll have to do some research, I never tried Femara, but did try Clomid at 150mg and it didn't do anything, so I'm not sure the Femara would work. I'll look into it, though, when we tried Clomid we continued on with the injects in the same cycle so if it doesn't work it's not like we'd be wasting much time. That's great, you'll have to share the u/s pics :-) How far apart will your two be?

  • Day 18 in the hospital! Today is equivalent to when DD was born, so it is a major milestone for us. Also, a Sept b-day sounds a lot better than an August birthday for a baby due in October! :) My ffn test came back positive Monday, but we know that doesn't mean much. The only thing that changed because of the test is I got another dose of steroid because it had been a month since the first round.

IF things are stable, there's a good chance they'll send me home on bed rest at 34 weeks and just let nature take its course. They have already said they won't do anything aggressive to stop labor at this point and nothing at all after 34 weeks. So, it is good to know there is a light at the end of the tunnel! This is getting hard!!! I miss my little girl, husband, and "normal" life.

  • I'm sorry Skype.

I have a regular check up tomorrow and then we're going to the Colts game. Very excited about both.  Today is also Aidan's 7 monthday. at 4:44 pm he was born and sadly on the 9th at 3:06 I will "officially" be able to say that he is gone longer than he was inside me and still fighting for his life.  Sorry to be a downer, but you guys have been amazing to me and I know I'm safe on this board.

that's cool that you can do injects if clomid doesn't work. i didn't realize that!

i will definitely share pics - the only "upside" to infertility and high risk pregnancy is a lot of ultrasounds. Smile ryan and baby OP will be 2 years, 5 months apart.

Yeah, apparently Clomid increases LH and FSH, so if your LH:FSH ratio is screwy (mine's like 3:1, something like that), it can up both of them and you still have the same problem with the follies not growing. Injects are straight FSH, so it's like feeding the ovaries the hormone directly instead of going through the brain. That's the only upside I could ever come up with, too...you always see girls on 1st tri complaining about not getting an early u/s and it's like seriously, be careful what you wish for, you don't want to need more u/s than one or two.

I look at the reminders as little signs from Aidan.  I don't pay attention to the clock as much anymore, but when I realize that it's 4:44 I know that it's Aidan (well me thinking extra about him). There are some reminders that are very very hard, like when I see the coming home outfit that we bought for him on a little boy.

Huge hugs for you, I can't imagine how hard that must be :(

We're on cycle #4 now. My last couple cycles have been really wonky so I'm trying to pay extra attention this month to everything that is going on so I can talk to my doctor about it. So far my ovulation seems kind of slow if that makes sense, and even though I'm on progesterone I still start spotting really early. It's almost like my body isn't making ANY of it's own (which supports my bad ovulation theory). We'll see I guess.

  • Hi ladies, sorry SkypeK. I hope it works out in Oct. :)mrssnflwr, if you can get out at 34 weeks...only ten days left! I can't imagine how hard it is to be away from your family for so long. :)

magdalina, I cannot imagine how difficult it is for you. big, big hugs!

    My Update:

I had my 36w (Yes, you read that right) growth u/s done on Tuesday. Addison is making an amazing last minute comeback. She now weighs 5lbs 2oz... I MAY actually (barring any unforeseen circumstance) have a take home baby! My dr. is going to let me go until 39 weeks, and she may weigh as much as 6lbs 10oz at that point. She might be able to FIT into newborn clothes.

Since we were expecting a 3lb 38-week out baby, my mother went out and purchased an entire wardrobe of preemie clothes. (I told her not too...) but after my daughter is born, (and I realize I don't actually need them) I would love to sell them to one of you ladies if you could use them! I will make a separate post about that later, but I just wanted to throw it out there.

  • I had my NT screening last Wednesday and the baby looked great.  The u/s also showed that my super-huge subchorionic hemorrhage had shrunken a great deal!  So I feel like I can breathe a little easier.  The results of the blood test put my risk for Down's and Trisomy 13/18 around that of a 20-year old.  Sweet!  I just got 13 years younger.  I also started back to work this week, which has totally kicked my first trimester a**!  I have been so exhausted.  7 more weeks until we find out the gender!!!
