Scared and Nervous

Hey everyone, okay so this is my husband and mine's first. We haven't told our families yet because we want it to be offical at the doctor's office which will be Thursday. I am really scared and nervous about our appointment. The thing is we don't have health insurence yet. We just applied today through the state hoping it goes through quickly. Anyways, since I am a college student I can go to the health clinic on campus. I know they are going to have me do a pregnancy test but not sure if anything else.

I guess I am nervous that I am not doing the right thing right now. My mom had two miscarriages because one was eptopic and it almost killed her. Because they didn't catch it in time before it caused internal bleeding. My question is how much is the risk for an eptopic and miscarriage for anyone? Also what should I ask the clinic when I am there on Thursday?

Re: Scared and Nervous

  • You are having your appointment on Thursday at the health clinic on campus? Sorry, just trying to clarify.

If you got a positive on a HPT, congrats! You don't need to wait for the confirmation unless you want to.

I know that my college didn't do any type of OB care, only basic GYN, so I hope your insurance request goes through quickly.

  • yeah it's on Thursday. I know they do pap smears because that's where most of my friends go. I am praying that the insurence goes through next week.

  • Hi there,

I read online that the risk of ectopic or tubal pregnancy is 1 in 100, but the risk may go up if you have a family history. Best to ask your doctor and get all of the questions answered there. And don't worry too much....being relaxed will help you right now! :)

I'm only about 5 weeks, also, and I'm having sharp pains in my uterus tonight, so I'm nervous too!

    Best Wishes to you. :)
