We're several steps closer to having a nursery! Over the weekend, DH and a bunch of friends tore down our dilapidated garage and rebuilt the walls. Once we get a roof on there, we can finally move everything out of the second bedroom and actually make it a bedroom.
I have been holding off on too much nursery planning, because that room is too packed with stuff to even wedge myself in and measure the walls or the windows. So I'm really excited to see progress.
I'm so proud of my big manly man.
Re: yay DH!
My DH needs to take some lessons from your DH!
We're planning to tear out the old 1940s plaster in the nursery, insulate the room, update the electrical system, install new carpet, and put up drywall & new trim. We'll be doing all this work ourselves. Before we can start to demo the room, DH has to move the pull-out couch serving as a guest bed into the other spare bedroom. He hasn't even hinted at starting all this yet.
He has talked about trying to make our badly dilapidated garage into a garage where I can actually park my car before winter hits. Right now, the garage's foundation would collapse under the weight of a car. It would take a lot more work than he realizes to make the garage useable. I'd like him to just start on the baby's room and forget the garage til next summer, but he has his mind set that I need to be parking in a garage this winter. Now I'm just asking him to please please please have the nursery done by Dec.
melnericproper, I know it can be frustrating when you're on two very different timelines for home projects. But I would think that growing bump would change his mind about the nursery project!
Good luck getting started - to all of you!
I tried to help out today and banged the crap out of my finger trying to hammer a nail. wah.
