Anyone into ceramics?

I found this on ebay:

but I don't know how to finish it.  Can someone give me some advice?  I haven't decided whether to do it in navy or yellow yet...or if it is even worth it?  Am I just getting myself into a mess for this inexpensive but cute bank?

Have you gone to any of those paint your own pottery places.  They might have them there and they have all the piants and they fire it.  Might cost a little more but really I think worth it by the time you go out and buy everything.

I was just starting to look into that option.  I have to call the local place to see if I can bring in my own piece.  I hope so!  Otherwise I found this other cute option....

I have seen that whale before. They might just have it or they can usually get what you are looking for at most of those places.  

I like the wooden one as well.  I guess it depends what kind of other stuff you have in the room.

The walls will be light grey and the furniture will be white.

If you dont have anything you are already personalizing I would go with the ceramic otherwise I really like the wooden one.  

If you are going the painting route you can get some ceramic paint at micheals and I think they even have a glaze so you can do it at home.  It just wont have that fired look to it.
