ladies who can sew, I need your help!!!

DS's beloved blankie is on it's last legs.  It's a patchwork blankie of sorts and it's coming apart.  I need someone who can sew help me fix it.  I have a sewing machine but it's ANCIENT and I don't even know how to turn it on. 

I have a feeling it would take all of 5 minutes to fix it:

I could do it by hand but I'm pretty sure it would look awful and not last very long.

If you've got some time to spare, I would love to fix his blankie!
