Weighing in at...

All right ladies...I have my 20 week appointment this Friday and I haven't wieghed myself since the nurse did it at my last appoinment.  From weeks 6-8 I lost about 8 pounds due to sickness.  It was at that point the doctor put me on the medication that I am still on for nausea.  When I went for my 16 week appointment I had gained 8 oz. (which is probably because I tried to eat alot before the appointment so I wouldn't get in trouble from the doctor).  My doctor has been awesome and has just told me to eat when I can as long as I don't lose any more.  Thankfully, I have been able to eat more recently than I have in a long time.  I am not worried about it.  I am just trying to eat what i can when I can.

I thought it might be interesting to see how much everyone has gained since so many of us ar at the half way point.

  • Everyone is different, doll. Some will gain a lot early and then level off. Some won't gain until the end.

  • I know a lot of people on here don't want to talk about weight.  It's supposed to be something you don't have to think about while pregnant.  But I am on strict orders to only gain between 11-20 lbs. total from my starting weight.  I started overweight, have GD, and I have monsterous babies.  (8.5-a little over 9 lbs.)  So I'm very proud to say I've only gained 0.6 lb. as of this morning.  I'm hoping to make it a few more weeks before I start gaining.  And btw, I'm not dieting to not gain weight, I'm just eating very healthy.  I have ice cream maybe twice a month.  That's usually my cheat food.  :o)  We all have our cravings.  It's what I crave every time I'm pregnant.

I don't mind talking about something weight. I mind answering the same question of "how much have you gained" every single week when in reality it doesn't really matter.

I think that's awesome that you are doing so well with you weight based on your doctors orders!! I just feel in the grand scheme of things, what you have gained and what I gain and what OP gained...they aren't comparable numbers because we are all on different diets, have different bodies and different pregnancies.

  • I started out at a normal weight for my height and I'm told to gain b/w 25-35.  As of last week I was up 9-10 lbs total.  My Dr is very happy with my weight and so far I'm ALL belly

Everyone is different....if your overweight you don't need to gain anything but if your underweight or normal weight you would have to gain something at this point considering the baby is 1lb and your uterus is bigger and filled with amniotic fluid

  • i didn't start gaining weight until the last few weeks, i was loosing weight to begin with. within the last say 4 weeks or so i've gained about 10 - 11lbs. the doctor doesn't want me to gain more then 25 so hopefully i'm on the right track, that leaves me with around 15 lbs or so that i'm "allowed" to gain. we'll see.

Totally agree with that!  I see what you mean.
