It feels weird to create a nn by adding so many letters that aren't in the original name, lol... an extra 'b', a 'y' and an 'e'.

Abby.

An abbey is a place where nuns hang out. My friend's SIL has a daughter Abigail and shortens it to "Abbey." It drives her nuts.

Technically, I'm pretty sure the correct spelling is "Abby." That said, I really prefer the spelling "Abbey," but I don't think I'd use it. Even if I think it's prettier, it is technically "wrong," and she'd be correcting people for her entire life. 

(I did used to have a cat named Abbey, spelled the way I like it  . )

I have a niece named Abby, 3 and it fits her perfectly she is spunky, and cracks me up, her sister Emma calls her Abba, which is so cute for a little sister term of endearment. I just have total love for the name Abby!
