Since I'm from Michigan, I say "pop," but DH is from Texas and he says "soda" and while living in Louisiana I always heard "Coke!" I always wonder which one LO will end up saying or if the poor child will be confused lol.
So, I'm curious what do you and your SO's call a carbonated beverage?

Re: Poll: What do you call it
I voted special snowflake because I say coke and soda.
I'm from Florida and I don't think I've ever heard someone from around here use the word "pop" for a drink.

DH teases me all the time when I ask him what kind of pop he wants when we're out to eat or at the store. All my family in Virginia says soda and teases me and my brother all the time. Those soda people are some bullies!
I voted special snowflake. I'm from Alabama and I've never used the words "pop" or "soda" in my life...nor have I heard anyone else from there use them. I either call it a Coke, if it is a Coke, or Sprite, or Pepsi, or whatever, or if we are just referring to a generic "Who is going to bring __________ to the party?"...I'd call them soft drinks.
Maybe its an Alabama thing, but down there soft drink is the word of choice.
But see, when the people I hung around in Louisiana (and it may just be a northern Louisiana thing because there was a big Coke factory there) called it a "coke," it was their generic term for pop/soda/soft drink/soda pop. So they would say "I want a Coke" and the person would say "Which kind?" and then they would say Sprite, Coke, Vernor's, etc.
Well, I'm from Canada so up here I usually hear "pop" (prob just shortened from soda pop), or soft drink! I use both!
Refering to ALL pop as "Coke" seems so funny to me!

Yup, this!
What part? Was it southern OK? Because here in Tulsa it's soda. I don't even notice the weird looks anymore lol
I'm in MN and growing up, it was always 'pop'...until I met my husband. He's from Philly where it's 'soda'. He laughed at me everytime I said 'pop', so I gradually made the change. I don't think I have called it 'pop' for almost 10 years...and now it actually sounds funny when I hear friends or co-workers call it 'pop'.
But because it's MN, it's 'pop'...and hotdish (not casserole)
Most likely southern because it was on the second day. However we could just as easily have been in Texas by then too
Sorry I don't remember where exactly just one of those two states.
I'm in the south, we mostly call it coke-like , "what kind of coke do ya'll want?" lol. But, I also refer to it by what kind it is specifically, like maltwin said. (I'm also from Alabama).
DH has always lived in the south but his family is from Ohio-so he says soda.
easy-it's sprite. it is kind of like band aid-or saying kleenex for tissues.
