Wood laminate floor owners come in- Poll

What kind of floors do you have (brand)

Light or dark-

How does it stand up to daily wear and tear

Does it show nail scratches easily from dogs?

Do you think it could stand up to big dogs running around doing their crazy zoomies and sliding all over the floor?

Are you happy with your floors?

Any tips for cleaning so it doesn't look all smeared/smudgy?

*We'd love real wood floors, but this isn't our forever house and I'm not spending that kind of money.  Looking for a happy medium- durable, nice looking wood laminate floors.  I love armstrong floors but not sure it's in the budget.

Re: Wood laminate floor owners come in- Poll

  • When I lived downtown I put in Wilsonart floors. They were beautiful, a dark walnut color. I honestly don't think there's a big price difference between good laminate and real wood. I saved money by doing laminate only because I was in a highrise and if I did real hardwood I would have had to put down cork subfloor first. Don't know why the laminate didn't need that. I loved them, they looked real, never saw a scratch and seemed pretty indestructable. At the time we had one pooch and she only was a city dog on the weekends so not sure how they would hold up to daily dog use. Have you looked at lumber liquidators online?

  • We put in pergo laminate floors and loved them! It took our dog a little while to get used to them but they held up no problem. We put an area rug in the middle of the room to help break up the running and sliding across issues. No complaints at all...for cleaning we swept and swiffered regularly.
  • We have "bamboo" Pergo in our kitchen, laundry room and entry.  We have 2 dogs (56 lbs and 37 lbs) and the floors have held up well.  We do have one spot where our larger dog puked and it got under the seams - it warped just a bit.  Overall, we're happy with the floors and they were easy to install.  After seeing what the puke spot did, though, I'd be hesitant to put Pergo or something similar in a bathroom or other room where it could get wet.

  • What kind of floors do you have (brand)- Lock 'n Seal from Sam's Club

    Light or dark- Dark

How does it stand up to daily wear and tear- We only have it in our basement now but it has held up well over the past year

Does it show nail scratches easily from dogs? No scratches from our 40Ib dog yet.

Do you think it could stand up to big dogs running around doing their crazy zoomies and sliding all over the floor?  My dog does the same thing! We haven't let her do it on the floors downstairs.

Are you happy with your floors? YES! We host lots of parties and our carpet is very stained so it's nice not worrying about spills.

Any tips for cleaning so it doesn't look all smeared/smudgy? So far I've only tried vinegar and water w/ a mop. My mom uses the swifer wet jet on hers. I use the swifer vac to get the dog hair up.

These are the floors we have...
