Would you buy a Delta crib?

I know they had huge recalls in 2008 and therefore Baby Bargains gave them an F.

DH and I really like this crib. We need 2 and the price is right. We are also looking for a matching dresser and this fits the bill perfectly.

We went to BRU today and this was the first time we were able to see the cribs in person. Looking online is just not the same.

Yes. I'm guessing that given the giant recalls, they're CYA now.  Also, a lot of companies had 2008 recalls b/c of the dropside issue.

I think O's old crib was a Delta crib and it was pretty sturdy.  It was recalled too, but there was just a fix kit for it.

Debating now whether to use it since it's a dropside...

Hmmm thank you. DH will be grateful someone agrees with him. We were thinking like you said, I bet they are CYA bigtime now.

Not sure if you should use yours, I am leaning toward yes.

Most recalls do not actually pose significant safety issues if the product is put together and used 100% correctly.  Therefore, without knowing specifically what the issue with the recalled Delta cribs is, I can say that I lean toward the "probably" side.

If we needed two cribs, our choice would have been a Delta... since we could have gotten two for the crib budget we had set.  Since we're only having one, we ultimately decided to go with a better-rated brand, but the Delta's I've seen at BRU & at Target seem nearly as sturdy as the one we bought that was twice the money.  And like someone else said, if you put it together correctly, nearly every crib out there (even the old drop side ones) is completely safe.

I bought a Delta crib and dresser.  I think it's fine.  From what I've read, the recalls were really only for the drop side cribs.  I really like the quality of the furniture.
