all in my head

so I had my ultrasound on Thursday and before that I have felt very brief and small fluttering of the baby and only a couple of times.  When I got the ultrasound she said he was very active and kept asking if I could feel it.  I didn't in the ultrasound.  Since I came home from the ultrasound though I feel the baby all the time.

Was I just not letting myself feel him before?  Or just a weird coincidence?

Re: all in my head

  • I never felt any fluttering.  I was getting really disappointed because at 19 weeks, I still hadn't felt anything!  Then, last Tuesday night, I felt one kick.  It was unmistakably a kick.  But I just felt one and then nothing.  But on Wednesday morning, I felt all kinds of kicks and movements and continue to feel it almost all day every day!  I think I just wasn't tuned in to the feelings before.  I'm sure he was moving around, I just wasn't noticing.  That's probably what happened with you too.

  • Probably just coincidence. I felt fluttering really early-right around 13.5 weeks or so. From that point to about 17 weeks, I felt movement very seldomly-maybe one time once every few days or so. Then all of a sudden I felt this wiggly baby all the time. Since you're further along, you're probably just now starting to notice the wiggles.

  • I had close to the same expeirence as you.  I went for my 16wk. ob appt and my Dr. place the doppler on my stomach and my LO was kicking away, but I wasnt feeling anything. It was only a few days later that I started to feel some serious kicks.  My OB told me it was only a matter of days before I would start feeling them, b/c I "have a serious kicker", and she was exactly right
