Anyone else have problems after stopping Progesterone?

I stopped taking progesterone yesterday as my doc had instructed and today I've had some sharp pains and mild cramping that has me a little worried. Did anyone else taking progesterone have any problems when they stopped? Should I be worried?

  • Sorry I don't have any advice for you.  Can you call your dr. and make sure that you don't have anything to worry about?  I hope eveything is okay!

  • Yep. Last one wed night. Then yesterday,  headache, tones of progesterone discharge (some brown&oarnge tinged) and feeling like someone kicked me in the crotch.

My back is achey too but I thought I slept funny.

I called yesterday morning about the headache & discharge and was told it was normal and headache may last a few days.

Id give a quick call about the cramps.

  • Thanks Shemico,

I will definitely call the doc about the cramping but I also had a horrible headache the day I stopped taking it and my back has been achey but I hadn't put those together as a side effect from the progesterone.

  • I have been on progesterone vaginal suppositories (prometrium, 200 mg) in AM and PM since about 6 weeks. My RE told me I don't really need it past 8 weeks, but that I could take it til 10 weeks if it helped me feel less anxious. So that's what I did. He suggested weaning off during week 9 rather than stopping cold turkey, so for week 9 I took 1 pill at night (instead of 2) for the first few days, then went to 1 pill every other day. I have noticed no ill side affects but have noticed that my nausea has MUCH improved. I'm not sure that's related though as he kept saying that progesterone was not making me sick, that's due to HcG.
