Pregnant after IF

have your legs started swelling yet?

I'm not talking your feet. I'm apparently past feet. My farking calves swelled tonight while I was at dinner. Granted I was up at 5:45 this morning and go-go-going until just about 20 minutes ago, but seriously?

It felt like they were going to burst. H rubbed my legs for me and now I'm laying with them elevated. For cripes sake. I feel like it's too early for this kind of swelling.

Re: have your legs started swelling yet?

  • HORRIBLY. are you at the point where the skin starts to itch and hurt from stretching so far? or where it feels like you're walking on bruised feet because the soles of your feet are so swollen?

don't despair though . . . you timed your pregnancy better than i did. in a couple of weeks it will be cool enough for you to wear compression stockings, which is really the only thing you can do to stop this. (elevation helps, of course, but it helps surprisingly little for me. they fill with fluid a LOT faster than they drain.)

  • I have had swelling in one ankle...just one, and all the time.  It's very strange, but my doctor says it's normal to have assymetrical swelling and is unconcerned...I was about 25 weeks when it started.

That being said, what finally cleared it up was when I was on vacation walking constantly last week.  Now that I am home and a bit more sedentary, it's back.  Go figure.

    Feel better!

no not yet :( But I see this just around the corner... Oy. My hands and feet swell all the time and now my legs too. My skin on my belly is so tight it feels like my belly button might explode. I have so much more growing to do that I know this kind of discomfort is just the beginning.

  • My hands and feet swell if I do a lot of walking, especially outside, but no leg swelling just yet.

I don't have a choice. I've been wearing them for weeks already at work. Being on your feet for 12 hours at a time is not conducive to keeping the swelling down.

  • I have only had very small amount of swelling in my feet/ankles when I have been in a car for more than 4 hours.  I guess I am lucky.
  • Surprisingly no significant swelling.  I do get some swelling in my foot where I had surgery and I chalk that up to the increased weight and overdoing it.  It is the one symptom I have gotten lucky on!

  • I have had swelling on one of my ankles. They say to keep your weight evenly distributed while you are on your feet. I am on my feet 9 hours a day so I am trying it. My legs hurt when I get up in the morning. Not charlie horses but they ache sort of like that.

it's funny that you mentioned charlie horses, I got my first one in my sleep on Thursday night. I was like WTF is this??

  • No swelling here...yet.  My feet, however, are massive.  I usually wear a 7.5.  None of my shoes fit and I have been living in cheap target shoes (already at 8.5).  I don't even want to think about what size I'll be later...
