oh so confused!!!!

So, as I bumped on wednesday, Hailey has a little cyst on her brain which the doctor said has been associated with T18.  However, there was a 99% chance everything was fine since she didn't find any other soft markers.  For my own piece of mind after researching I called with a couple of questions such as did they see BOTH hands and were they open and did they see BOTH feet and were they normal... etc.  I got no call back on wednesday or yesterday so I called this morning and asked for the lab since my second half of screening was supposed to be in.  The nurse said everything came back low risk.

Now, the doc said that they could not do trisomy 18 blood work on me due to my insulin resistance.  However, somehow they did and got back low risk results.  The nurse was also confused and didn't know weather that was good because usually IR pts get back false positives or if it was normal for IR pts to get false negatives.  THIS SUCKS!  There of course is no doctor in today so I get no answers!!  Anyone have any clue about this?!

  • I'm sorry I don't know much about this.  I know its hard to relax and you want some real answers, but for now I think all you can do is stop Googling and take comfort in the fact the doctors are saying you are low risk (even though you are getting some mixed responses and confusion).  I would call you OB on Monday morning and asked to be referred to a genetic specialist.  Make an appt. to sit down and go over in detail your u/s and blood work results as well as any other testing options.  You are just going to make yourself more confused if you keep trying to figure it out based on the internet and doesn't sound like you will be getting anywhere with the lab today.  Try to enjoy your weekend and get a fresh start on finding answers on Monday.  Sorry you are going through this, but I am sure your LO is just fine.
I give up trying to get a ticker.  I have a DD that is 2.5 years old and is awesome.  Maybe I'll add a quote to distinguish myself.  Hmmm.  How about...
