Did anyone else's LO have a cyst?

Durring our ultrasound on tuesday, my doctor told me that our LO had a little cyst on his brian.  they said it was nothing to worry about, and the doc. litterally said to me, "Well, you get a free ultrasound out of it!"  He seemed to not worry at all and was sure that when we had our follow up u/s at 28 weeks, it would be gone.  I was just wondering if anyone else had this?  Thanks!

Re: Did anyone else's LO have a cyst?

  • Although not on the brain, our little guy has a cyst in his abdomen.  They have been watching it since a little after nine weeks. After our 20 weeks scan, out dr. said that it had not grown since the very first measurement and it seems to be very stable and it is nothing they are going to worry about.  I do however, have very good girlfriend that this happened to and as your doctor said, by their 30ish week scan, it had dissipated.

  • I've known a couple people who had this with their LOs- it always went away and wasn't a big deal.  =]
  • Hey, I think now there are a 2 or 3 of us whose LOs have had this. My little girl has one too and the doctors told me the same thing like it wasn't a big deal. Even after much reading, I think the only thing we can do is wait and see. I actually go back for a f/u ultrasound at 24 weeks but it was originally recommended to go back at 28 weeks. But the doctor knew that I was anxious! Good luck! I am sure everything will be FINE!
  • Our little Hailey has this also.  Unfortunately, we are seeing a perinatologist and they have to tell you every possibility in the world but she did follow it up with 99% chance baby is fine and absolutely no need to worry!  Of course, I am worried on and off but we go back at 22 weeks and then at 26 weeks just so they can look at baby's hands, feet, heart etc.  I have done a ton of research on this and if this was your anatomy scan and they found no other abmnormalities than 99% chance baby is fine!!  If you are worried you can call your Doc and ask specific questions like if baby's hands were open... if they were, from what i read, you are pretty much in the clear!  Hope you aren't a worry wort like me... i like to drive myself crazy lol!  GL and I will say a little prayer for your LO along with mine!

  • This is my first post here, so hi!  And our LO had two cysts - one in each hemisphere of his brain.  My doctor also told me not to worry about it, and we'll have a f/o ultrasound around 24-26 weeks.  When I asked her what would happen if they didn't clear, she told me that they always do.  Since she has more medical training than me, I'm going to believe her!

My doctor said the exact same thing. It seems to be something very common. She stated that since my blood work was normal and NT scan was normal than the cysts will go away.

I'm glad to know that they usually go away!  my doctor didn't give me much imput other than "not to worry"  and "you get a free ultrasound" Thanks girls!
