Slept horribly last night. I fall asleep on my left side and wake with a bad crick in my back. Lay on my back and suddenly get intense throbbing and sudden slightly painful throbs midline under my belly button. I get scared and flip to the right side. Later on I wake up on my back with the same sensation. I am getting anxious not knowing what is going on. It does not feel like when baby bumps their head or kicks- it kind of feels funny, weird and painful. This morning I lie back on the couch to see if it happens again. It does. Call DH and my mom and they say call the OB. The OB isn't worried, says I can come in to hear the doppler if I want. I have an appointment next week and I felt baby bumping and kicking after breakfast so I feel okay not going in. Apparently, if you have an anterior placenta and baby punches it can be kind of painful/uncomfortable. Glad I know now what this is though. Anybody else go through this or have weird feelings with an anterior placenta?
Re: punch in the placenta
My baby is breech. I felt kicks (left side) and head bumps (right side) at 18-19 weeks that were like taps or a popping bubble.I like feeling this! Now I am feeling this weirdness midline- thinking it is baby punching and it doesn't feel so good! I was surprised I am feeling anything because of hearing about anterior placenta but I do! It is the first pregnancy to get to this point too and am kind of overweight so yea, really was surprised! There is hope!!!
I have had painful pains also. I find sleeping on my left side with a body pillow helps.
