I just noticed there's a Parenting After 35 board. I'm kind of confused why this board even exists and I have to say I'm just slightly offended that it does (and I'm only 30).
Do you think this board was created b/c parents over 35 feel like they're in the minority and most people are younger? I'm guessing this is geared towards new parents over 35 b/c obviously anyone who had a baby before 35 would still (hopefully) be parenting after 35. Is it really that out of the ordinary to be a new parent over 35??

Re: NIFR: Parenting After 35 Board?
It seems like they've added several new boards lately, I would guess b/c ppl asked for them (except diapering, which is a mktg. board for Pampers).
While the average age of new parents is climbing, outside of urban areas it's still unusual to not have any kids until your mid-30's. I can only venture to guess that older parents had a hard time relating to some of the younger parents on the other parenting boards. It's like all media fragmentation, everyone wants a home board that reflects not only their life stage, but their mind set.
I'm curious why you are offended at its existence?

Thankful for every day
If I had to guess (again not being a parent or 35), I think that b/c there is a TTC after 35 board, the ladies who were able to conceive wanted a board to go to. Kind of like there is SAIF, I'd view Parenting after 35, a board for those ladies to go to after TTC after 35.
That's just a guess. Otherwise, I'm as confused as you!
I do think this is a logical guess.
I noticed that board yesterday and did a little side-eye and thought the same. Is it that crazy being so ?old? and being a new parent? I think that number is growing though because most of my friends who are not even dealing with IF are 30 or older and not even thinking of kids yet. I did get offended for a second but I am thinking it?s the ladies from TTC after 35?s board.
Dx: PCOS, Anovulatory, Amenorrhea 2006

IVF#1 Cancelled due to breast biopsy.05/01/20

IVF#2 Microdose Lupron 10/2010 Beta 11/09=BFN

IVF#3 2/2011 - 2 blasts(2/25) Beta 03/11 =BFN
IVF#4 Lupron 01/02 =2 blasts, beta's 1-4 198,234,398,3100!!BFP

I agree about the logical progression of the board.
But being AMA, I don't always connect with some of the young moms. I am in a different place in my life being closer to 40 than 20. I could also relate to what it is going to be like being an older mother and those concerns around that.
