Please...acne help!

My skin has always been acne prone, and I had to stop taking the 'magic pill' that helped it stay clear whenever we started TTC.  Well, it's completely out of control now and actually painful.  Does anybody have any solutions?  I'm using cetaphil twice daily and an oil free moisturizer.

Thanks in advance!

  • my teenage years acne-prone skin appears to have returned during pregnancy and I just recently purchased the Belli Acne Clearing Facial Wash which is pregnancy safe and sold in CVS stores although I ordered mine online.  If I have a really nasty zit then I use a dab of an OTC zit cream with 10% benzoyl peroxide -- benzoyl peroxide is not "safe" for pregnancy in high doses but I figure a dab once every couple weeks should be OK.  There was a discussion about acne treatments on either the Natural Birth or Eco-Friendly Family board which is how I heard about Belli products.  They were militantly against ProActiv due to active ingredients which are teratogenic (fancy way to say it causes birth defects or otherwise impacts baby in utero).  HTH.

I tried the Belli and it was not effective for me. My cousin is a dermatologist and a pediatrician and she said it was okay to use a benzoyl peroxide cleanser up to 3.5 percent on a daily basis. I use Proactiv and it keeps me relatively clear. However, pregnancy always gives me acne in my EYEBROWS (weird) and I can't seem to stop those zits.
