Trouble TTC

You DO know that...

"...you have to have intercourse to get pregnant, correct?"

How embarrassing. That was the actual statement from the person I see who goes over my charting!!!  It's not that we are not trying, it's just pretty difficult when my husband works 60 hour shifts at the firehouse and I work 24-36 hour shifts there also. Never fails he is working when I am off and vice versa. I TRY to schedule time off together when I am "supposed" to O, but it NEVER works out. GRR!!

Soo, I am considering putting a sign up sheet at the station for the guys to volunteer.Wink This is getting rediculous!!

Re: You DO know that...

  • Who goes over your charting? Nobody ever looked at mine except the RE.  I always prayed that he wouldn't say anything, mine was always the same way as yours. I explained from my first appt that I was sure timing was a part of the problem, we always worked opposite shifts and only saw each other on the weekend.

  • Hopefully they were just trying to lighten the mood because that sounds a tad inappropriate to me. I may just be overly sensitive :)

  • A separate person goes over my charting. She is (ironically enough) my RE's MIL. She goes over it first to make sure I used the appropriate stickers and totals my mucus score (Whatever the heck that is...) so that when I take it to the RE he can look at it and decide treatments based on my consistency, length of LP and "quality" of CM.

And Kerrbear, I was pretty embarrassed when she said something about it, but then again she assumed we were like "normal" couples that have 9-5 jobs and were home together every night/all weekend. So I guess from her perspective, it didn't make any sense why we were TTC and NOT humping 24/7 during my "peak type mucus". Embarrassed And the fact that she is about 4'8" , 70 years old and MAYBE 80 lbs soaking wet, it was hard for me to think she was being snarky.  Wink

But I will say, it made for a good laugh after the fact!!  And also, it has made  me feel a *little* better after so many BFN's because in the back of my mind I am thinking that it's not that there is something "wrong", but the fact that SOOOO much depends on timing. NWIM?

  • That's annoying!  DH and I work opposite shifts too.  He works 7 pm - 7 am and his days off can be any day during the week.  So needless to say timing isn't always on our side either. We definitely do the best we can though!

  • I have the same problem. I work nights, and DH works days. We have every other weekend off together. I don't see much point in trying all the time, if I already know I'm not O'ing. I can't get pregnant if there is no egg to fertilize!
