Well, I saw the name "Earl" first when I looked at that, so first I said Sh-earl. Then I saw the word "Shear", so then I said it Shear-ulll. So....well, Cheryl FAIL.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the reason you've never seen "Cheryl" spelled "Shearl" is because "Shearl" is a stupid, made-up way to spell the name.
Re: Never seen it spelled this way
thats exactly what I thought. When I saw it on the paper I asked my coworker " how do you say that name.. he says Cheryl is how she said it"
FAIL
I knew step sisters in high school and their names were Cheryl and Sherril...it was weird.
IMO, Shearl sounds like someone with a bad accent told someone else who didn't know how to spell to write down the name. It's a no go for me.
