There have been a lot of shot posts today and I'm wondering how intimidating the needles are? I've had to do trigger shots for my IUIs which were no big deal for me, but are the IVF med shots much larger needles? I am still preparing for my IVF cycle next month and I'm curious!
Re: s/o shots for IVF...
There are few things that make IVF shots different/worse.
First off, there are many more of them. Depending on your protocol, you can take 2-3 shots each in the morning and the evening.
Then, after the retrieval, you start on PIO. That needle is 1.5" and goes either in your butt or thigh. It can hurt, but most likely it's just a bit uncomfortable if your DH is a good dart thrower. LOL.
After 27 months, 5 IUI's, 3 m/c's, 2 IVF's, 2 FET's (and a partridge in a pear tree) we finally had our baby boy. Our first son was born on Jan. 1, 2009.
Did another round of IVF and our girl/boy twins were born May 12, 2011
I posted earlier about shots because I am definitely not in the norm with my protocol. The majority of my shots will be IM which is not the case for most people.
SubQs are a piece of cake. You're going to do great!
Me - DX Hashimoto's Disease, Hypothyroid, Rheumatoid Arthritis
DH - DX Azoospermia - Sertoli Cell Syndrome
DS-IUI #1-4 BFN IVF #1 - BFP! It's a boy!!!
I'm like this too. My RE doesn't use SubQ shots, it's all IM. But I did do SubQ with my old RE, and they are the tiniest little things - you'll be fine! GL!
Maddie I am so glad that I am not alone. They pretty much said I will do nothing that is subQ except the Lupron.
