IVF and cysts?

I am gearing up for IVF#3 and at my CD1 baseline u/s I had a cyst - maybe 18mm. I didn't take BCP.

We drew my E2 today, CD2, and it is low enough to start stims so we're assuming that it is a non-functional cyst and should not impact the cycle outcome.

I just don't want to mess this up because it is my last shot. :(

Has anyone had a cyst during IVF? Did it seem to affect your cycle at all? Did you have less eggs retrieved or poor quality eggs? Did you get pregnant?

Re: IVF and cysts?

  • My RE never let me do an IUI cycle with cysts if they were over a certain size because (I gather) the stimulation drugs will also grow the cyst and that could be problematic.

But I have no idea on the IVF front how that works.

After 2 losses, IVF #2 brought us our little boys.

  • I had a corpus luteum cyst during my last IVF cycle.  It pushed things back a week, but shrank small enough to proceed with the cycle.  I don't think it had anything to do with the number of eggs retrieved or the result of the cycle.  Hang in there - it will probably shrink on its own and you will be on your way.  Hope this helps!

This, for IUIs and IVFs, even small cysts as they may potentially hurt a cycle.
