D.C. Area Babies

Mommas of girls

So, um, how do you get the newborn gunk out of the girly parts?  We've been gently wiping with wet washcloths but it's not getting everything and she's just getting irritated (skin and temper).  TIA!!

Re: Mommas of girls

  • Other than regular wiping with baby wipes during diaper changes, leave it alone until you can give her a bath...  Don't use the washcloths, as it will just continue to irritate the area.

It's normal for baby girls to have discharge for several days after birth (sometimes it's even a little bloody...)

It will clear up in a few days!

Yup, this.  Don't worry about it, just make sure there's no poo in those crevices and she's good to go until bath time.

  • I think DD had that white stuff for almost a month.  Don't worry about it, the doctor told me it does no harm.

    This! and congrats!

  • Thanks!  She had a mini bath yesterday, mainly to get the gunk out of her hair, but she is a little stinky.
