We (ok, me) are thinking of using the maiden names of both of our mothers as the first and middle name if this baby is a boy.
Both maiden names are actual names, not just last names used as first names.
But, as it turns out - if we used the names, it is also the first and last name of a sports person. Not a super well known person I don't think. Not in a major sport like football, basketball, baseball, etc.
Middle names are not really used, and when (and if) he is older and wants to use the full name, most people will have NO clue who the famous person was.
Do you think this is weird?
So, it would be like: James Dean LASTNAME; or Michael Jordan LASTNAME
We don't share names before birth, so that is why I provided examples instead of the real name.
Re: First name + Middle name = someone "famous" WWYD?
I don't think it's a problem - especially is the person isn't super famous.
DH and I thought about doing our fathers names for a boy - but it would be John Wayne! lol. My husband is all about it - me not so much. I'm not a fan of people calling my son Duke.
I didn't realize when we picked a boys name for us that it ended up being the name of an actor. Now everyone's asking us if we're naming him after Brandon Lee from the Crow, or telling us how gothic it is.
Brandon - DH's middle name
Lee - MIL's & my grandmother's middle name
I don't mind though, I actually found it interesting when we found out. We're not changing the name.

I have the first and last name of a rather famous character. People smile, and I enjoy joking about it. Oddly enough, a lot of people don't even notice it. In your case, it's
If anyone does make the connection, the corner of their mouth will twitch a little, they'll give you a knowing look, and you'll know you share an appreciation for the same sport.
I definitely wouldn't do it, but only you can say for sure whether it will bother you or not.
You know, even if it didn't spell out a star's name, I wouldn't use both mothers' maiden names. The first 3 might be a bit jealous if this one has TWO family names. (or they might not). Or this 4th one might get jealous that you couldn't think of anything original for their name. What about saving one of the mothers' maiden names for the next LO?
I was actually thinking along these lines...
Good Point. But the first 3 kids have different fathers (YIKES) let me explain lol
Child #1 is from a teenage pregnancy - he is almost 16 (a boy)
Child #2 is adopted (a boy, and came to us at 3 - so already had a name)
Child #3 is with my husband (a girl)
Child #4 is with my husband (sex unknown)
As for future children - this (biological) shop is closed LOL
My Blog
I don't think it's a big deal. As previous posters have said, most people won't even know the middle name.
But you have really piqued my interest! I want to know who it is!
