Onto Second IVF (Frozen embries)

Ladies, I wanted to stop by and get your feel on this.

My specialist says using frozen embryo's for IVF takes your success rate from 50% to 30%.  I was talking to my best friend last night and she said that a friend of hers just did one cycle with fresh, not successful and one cycle with frozen and just had twins.  This friend's fertility specialist told her that frozen were better than fresh.

What have you all heard?
My frozen embries have a much better grade than the fresh did.  I was a 3 day transfer with my first IVF, these came from day 5.

Thanks!

  • Our clinic has about a 60% success rate on fresh, and 35% on frozen.  At this point to try and understand if and why I would fall into the success or failure rate for either feels like shooting an arrow at a target with my eyes closed.....

  • The deal with FET - they not only had to survive freezing, now they have to survive thawing.  So it takes a much better quality embryo to go through all of that.  If the embryos were poor, they wouldn't have made it to freeze.  Only about 30% of couples even get embryos to freeze.

There are lots of success stories on SAIF and PAIF with FET.  It is definitely easier to do a FET than to do a fresh IVF cycle.  And less expensive.

There are even some clinics that are freezing all embryos from an IVF cycle and waiting a cycle before transferring them back so that the uterus can calm down - so there are definitely some benefits to FET.

    Good luck!

  • I'm currently baking a FET embryo (second beta is today, so fingers crossed).  My first IVF didn't work, and we had 2 perfect 3d embryos.  One blast made it to freeze, and they told me that it wouldn't.  So, our little totsicle froze, and unfroze to stick.

So there are some success stories!  :)

    Good luck!
