Just spent the day at my MIL's.. she needed help with yard work. So instead of getting things done around my house on a Sunday (many things on our own to-do list) we went over and helped her.
I then hear from her mother that MIL has been watching for my husband all day and he should have been over earlier, and that she "really misses him". He is a big boy with his own house & family, not sure why they don't get this. Just because we live five minutes away doesn't mean we are going to be over everyday.
Then my MIL shows me all the boy clothes she has bought our baby. She hasn't been shy about how much she wants my husband to have a little mini-me. And the disappointment we'll encounter if we have a girl just builds.
THEN MIL and her mother comment about how huge I am. I get it, I've popped. People are going to say stuff, people like baby bumps. But they keep saying it. And keep second guessing if I'm having twins or saying my dr.. must be wrong about my due date since I'm only 13 wks.
I've had THREE ultrasounds. I try to assure them that there is only one baby and it has measured on track with my due date every single time. No matter how much I say this my MIL always thinks that when I had my chemical pregnancy in March I must not have miscarried. Sure. All those negative pregnancy tests after I miscarried meant nothing.
Frustrated tonight. Congrats to anyone that actually made it through this jumbled, frustrated mess.
Re: day @ MIL's - Vent
WHAT AN EVIL COW!!!!
I'd feel the need to lie to her ugly face and tell her You Got Me, We Are Having Twins And I Was Trying To Hide It. You're Good! Then when the ONE baby is born and she asks where the other one is, you should say stupidly, "Oh... the first 10 ultrasounds I had must have been right when they said there was only one in there. Thank GOD you're not a doctor, huh??"
WOW this is very tempting. haha
My MIL use to do this to DH and his siblings. She would have chore lists taped on her cupboards and invite them over to clean. It hasn't happened for a LONG time, thank God.
Maybe I will start doing this, make chore sheets and invite my in-laws over!
OMG, Tiffany, you're a diabolical genius and I love it!
I'm confused, do you know the gender yet? Why is she buying boy clothes if you don't?
IMO, your H would do well to tell his mother she can get off your case or do her own yardwork.
We do NOT know the sex yet.. and will not until my 20 wk appointment. She is buying boy clothes because she hopes that much that I'm carrying a boy. She did the same thing when my SIL was pregnant- she bought girl clothes waaay before they knew the sex because she wanted her to have a girl so bad. She ended up having a boy . ha
My husband is actually great.. and did call her out when she told me how huge I was for the sixteenth time. He was kind of like EASY MOM. Not everyone likes to hear that. I love him
