Pregnant after IF

shower question

I just had brunch with my super duper awesome mother in law.  Her and my FIL want to host a baby shower for me.

My question is, I think she wants to have it pretty early.   I'm due February 2nd.  Since she will most likely have it in their home, she wants to make every effort to try and have it when the weather is somewhat mild in NJ to try and have some of it outdoors, as well as to avoid having it near the winter holidays.  She was mentioning sometime between the end of October-beginning of November, putting me between 26-28 weeks pregnant.

Is this too early to have a shower?

Re: shower question

  • I think it's perfect timing with a singleton. Gives you time to find out what you're having, register, and then after your shower still have enough energy to go complete your registry and get anything that you still want/need.

  • I think it's fine. I don't think there is a "right" time to have a shower. It's whenever works best for all involved.

My 1st shower will be early because my mom and friends from home want to do one in Chicago and the only time we'll be back is the end of October for my 10 year reunion. We're doing it then and I'll only be 22 weeks.

  • Sounds good to me.  Past viability and still enough energy to deal with all the stuff and finish getting what you still need.  I had mine at 30 and it was a good time, I think.
  • I'm due about 2 weeks before you, and that's the timing my hostess is looking at for my shower... not for a weather issue (I'm in TX!), but to avoid the holiday madness... and waiting until after Christmas would put me at 37+ weeks, and that's just too late.  I think that timing is just about perfect.

  • Sounds like a good time to me.  2 of mine will be at 29 and 30 weeks.
