SHG's before IVF?

Did everyone who has done IVF have to have one? I have had all the b/w done, HSG and a lap. Just wondering if this is standard or not for all IVFers.

  • I had to have it before I could start our 1st IVF cycle (also counted for mock transfer).  My clinic requires one a year so if DH and I do another IVF cycle, I'll have to repeat the SHG.

GL!  I didn't think it hurt at all - probably even less uncomfortable than the HSG :)

  • My clinic did not require one before IVF. After my first IVF failed, I had one done before the second.

  • Yep I had to have one before my cycle
  • My RE requires them before IVF.  It wasn't bad.  Just a little cramping.

  • I had one done as part of the inital testing. That's when he saw my septum for the first time.
