How many ounces are your twins drinking at around 7-8 months old? Also, are you doing 2 or 3 meals a day?
Our boys are eating about 24 oz of formula/pumped bm per day. They have 5 bottles, but whenever we've offered them more than 6 oz, they have never finished it. They usually get 6 oz first thing in the am and then again right before bed at night and then 4-5 oz 3 times during the day. I've been reading what others are eating and now I'm worried they aren't getting enough!
Also, when did/do you start feeding 3 meals a day? We didn't start solids until 6 months and I'm still only doing breakfast and dinner. Between the two of them, they eat a jar and a half of fruit plus 4 tbsp of oatmeal for breakfast and the 4 tbsp of oatmeal mixed with a half a jar of fruit and then 2 jars of veggies for dinner.
They don't act like they are hungry, but I'm just worried that they maybe need more?
TIA!
Re: Meals and bottles at 8 months?
You have really good eaters! To make you feel better-Emerson NEVER took baby food-ever. I tried for six months to get her to take it but, nope.
She finally started taking some solids around her first birthday and we took her completely off the bottle around 14 months.
You're in good, good shape for sure!
That sounds great. When my trio was that age they were eating exactly the same. It was about this time that I started to introduce lunch, and weaned them off one of their bottles. They had a bottle at 7, 11, 3, 7, and 11. I started to give them less and less at the 11pm bottle and eventually stopped it. They also would not take more then 6oz in their bottles - so I assume that they were getting enough.
My schedule when I added lunch was like this:
- 7 - bottle
- 8:30/9 - breakfast
- 11:30/12 - bottle
- 1:30 - lunch
- 3:30/4 - bottle
- 6:00/6:30 - dinner
- 8 - bottle
HTH!
