Anyone here eat deli meat or fresh salads at restaurants? I ate deli meat today and now am nervous. I did not heat it and now am thinking I should have. Now I see that you have to be careful with salads and pre-cooked veges. How strict are you with these foods?

Re: Deli Meat? Salads?
I was rather strict with DD, however, this time not so much. I remember my OB saying that the listeria poisoning associated with deli meats is so rare and he has only heard of 2 cases since he has been practicing.....and they were cross country.
Today for lunch i ordered out an antipasti salad (had cold cuts in it) and it was delish!
Now if i was vacationing in a foreign country I would never trust their deli meats!
I remember with my last pregnancy there was this thing with not eating soft serve ice cream and dairy queen. Well i ate it nearly 4 times a week!
I don't worry about salads or precooked veggies - I've never heard of issues with this?
But I don't eat deli meat unless it is hot. So for example when we go to Panera if I want a sandwich I get one of the hot paninis. It's just not worth the risk. I'm sure you'll be fine with the one slip-up. I read in WTEWYE that you are more susceptible to things like listeria in the second and third trimester when the babies are directly feeding off of you and your immune system is lower. HTH!

Ditto this. There's just nothing delicious enough to risk it, KWIM?
I never heard of the salad thing.
i stopped eating deli meat. if you are near Wegman's they have a fully cooked carved turkey breast that is safe to eat. if I'm craving it, i get some of that.
that being said, i plan on eating a big old sub the day i give birth
