Infertility

Be careful what you wish for :( BAD news sperm.

So DH cannot have children. 5 IVFs, 3 m/c and 15 lbs later we were just told it is not possible. The Uro said we can keep trying IVF w/ICSI but I will probably keep having m/cs. He said it is not fixable. Eventually it could work but it may never work. DS or PGD are our only options...and he was not optimistic about PGD.

DH is devastated and my heart is breaking for him. It looks like we are going to move onto DS. I am so overwhelmed. I am going to be 40 in a few months and we have wasted 2 years playing with IVF.

Sorry-I feel like a whiner, especially because I know so many of you are using DS. We are ok with it and have talked about it ...using a donor is not the problem. My main problem with the whole thing is the $$$$$$$ and time we have wasted.

Well, DH wants to go out for ice cream so this is a post and run. I think I'm getting a sundae. Thanks for listeneing.

  • We weren't quite as many IVFs in when we got that news... but it sucks so so hard.

I'm going to have to side in with your RE - PGD is probably a recipe for heartache in your case.  The rates of "good" embies is low (between what you're screening out and the ones they just can't get a +/- on), and if you have other issues besides, it's just... not good.

*hugs*  If you need to bounce something off someone... feel free to PM me.

Husband has cystic fibrosis. I'm a carrier. We did TESE, IVF, ICSI, and PGD. After two failed IVFs, we were blessed with our twins.

  • Oh gosh... I am so sorry. If you need to talk, I'm here too. That was basically what the embryologist said to us at our transfer yesterday, which is one of the reasons we opted to go 100% DS with this cycle. (((hugs))) PM me if you want to talk.

  • I am so sorry.  I know that the RE's don't want to do unnecessary testing, but sometimes I think they do too little before putting us on the IVF path.  Lots of ((hugs)).
