Who has had Cysts?

This morning RE told me that I have a couple of cysts on each ovary due to the medication.  So, I have to sit this next cycle out. Ladies who have had this too, what does this mean? Can they rupture? Will they do away by next cycle?? ugh, this totally sucks. Tell me what you know and your experience please!

Re: Who has had Cysts?

  • I've had cysts many times. Three times I've had to have surgery to have them removed. I've had cysts three other times during the course of our treatment. Each time those have went away when I was put on BCP for a month.

They can rupture. They can cut the blood supply to your ovaries off. But that typically doesn't happen with smaller cysts--which usually cysts that are the result of a treatment cycle are smaller.

  • They probably will go away on their own. I'm surprised they didn't put you on BCP. My RE puts me on BCP to get rid of any cyst. And yes, they could rupture, but it's not very likely.

Did your RE mention the sizes?

IVF #1 BFN... IVF #2 BFP! TWINS!

he didn't say what size they are :( They are very vague there...

  • Many REs put patients on BCPs to calm down the ovaries and shrink any cysts.  That is standard protocol with my RE.

I have had cysts from clomid.  Cysts can rupture, however many times they will resolve without rupturing.  When I have had them I would take a month off and they resolved.

  • I had a large one that had to get removed surgery and I had a residual cyst that wasn't producing any hormones last cycle.  Since it wasn't producing hormones, they allowed me to cycle and it dissolved on its on during the cycle.  GL!

  • I had cysts after my last stims cycle.  They didn't put me on the bcp because I don't have PCOS.  They told me to try not to do to many bouncing excersices or go on rollercosters or that sort of thing.  I ended up with the next cycle off because of my lap, but went in to have a u/s to see if they were resolved on at the start of the cycle and they were.   GL!  I know breaks for cysts can be so hard, but try and find peace with it and enjoy your time away from the clinic.

  • i have had cysts on/in my left ovary the last few cycles.  they always show up on the ultrasound looking like follicles but with little white specks inside.  they are never huge and my RE has never been concerned about it.  The nurse says that the specks mean it is breaking down on its own... so most likely they appear and disappear each month.  I has three on the left during this cycle, on my first ultrasound there were three and the next ultrasound (4 days later) there were only two.

I hope this doesn't interfere with your cycle and you can continue on as planned!
