Can you please recommend a beach within a couple of hours of Sesame Place?

I'm hoping this is the right board on which to post this question :)

We are hoping to go to Sesame Place (probably not until June, just trying to get ideas!) and want to do a little stay at a beach.  Which beach within a couple of hours of there would you recommend?  We would either rent a condo/house for a few nights or stay at a hotel, but we definitely want wherever we stay to be close to the beach.  It will be our two kids plus our niece, who will be 2 at the time.  Thanks!

  • Look at Ocean City, NJ.  It is about an hour and a half from Sesame Place and is very family friendly.  It is a dry town and they have a great boardwalk with rides, yummy food and games.

I personally am a fan of Sea Isle City, NJ which is just a few miles further south.  It's smaller and easier to navigate than Ocean City and has a boardwalk but it doesn't have rides.  They opened a small area of rides for younger kids which is nice, but it's not on the boardwalk and it is nothing compared to what OC offers.  I just love Sea Isle because it is where I have always gone and my family has a house there

    Have fun!

  • Ocean City is very family friendly but does get a little crowded in the summer.  We love it there so much that we have been looking at purchasing a condo there.

Also very close is Spring Lake.  The beach is very nice but not as kid friendly.  There is a board walk but that is it.. not shops or anything.  The town is very quaint.

  • Well, the entire Jersey coast line is full of beach towns, and almost all of it is within 2 hours of Sesame.

Starting in Central/East Jersey and moving South - Seaside Heights/Park, Island State Park, LBI, Little Egg Harbor, Ocean City, Sea Isle, Margate, Avalon, Brigintine, Stone Harbor, Wildwood, Wildwood Crest, Cape May....

I only highlighted a few.  Ocean City, Wildwood, Sea Side all have board walks - wildwood draws a lot of 20 somethings at night, but it's not as bad as it was 10 years ago.  Ocean City is dry if that matters to you.  Cape May is gorgeous - but not really for kids and it can get expensive.  LBI is fun and there are a ton of towns of the island chain.

Most people from the Philadelphia area have a favorite beach they have been going t otheir whole lives - but honeslty - as a tourist - they all have their pros and cons.  Do a little web research on some of the towns I mentioned.

Also - perfect for the age category, there are other things than Sesame; Crayola Factory in Easton, PA; Philadelphia Zoo, Cape May Zoo, Popcorn Zoo, Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia, Giggle berry Fair in New Hope.  Let me know if you want more information on anything - and good luck planning your trip!
